Documentary-Style Engagement Session at South Congress

As a wedding photographer in Austin, Texas, my favorite thing is capturing everyday love. By this, I mean that I love taking photos that capture who my clients are in the beautiful in-between moments of life. And documentary-style engagement sessions are perfect for this!

Chelsea and Jiho reached out to me wanting an artistic, documentary-style engagement session. And since they’re both huge fans of film, so we added film photos to their collection, too! Their engagement session included two outfits and two locations, and they chose South Congress and Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas!

South Congress Documentary-Style Engagement Photos

For the first part of their session, Chelsea wore a long white dress and Jiho wore a simple white button-up with slacks. We started the day in South Congress, one of my absolute favorite places to shoot engagement and family sessions! We took full advantage of the colorful storefronts and restaurants. Watching Chelsea and Jiho was like getting front-row tickets to your favorite rom-com. They laughed and talked the entire time, simply enjoying being together. They made taking documentary-style engagement photos even more fun than usual.

Casual Film Photos by Lady Bird Lake

After traipsing all around South Congress, Chelsea and Jiho changed into jeans and sweaters and we stopped by Lady Bird Lake! The weather was perfect for an outdoor shoot. We got some incredible golden-hour photos on the Lady Bird Lake boardwalk and in the surrounding area. Chelsea and Jiho were truly in their element, and I really enjoyed following them around and encouraging them to do silly things and laugh together.
