Maine In-Home Family Session with the Delamaters

This Maine in-home family session was full of so many sweet and candid moments. I loved capturing the Delamaters in their space as they went about their day. In fact, documentary sessions with families are one of my favorite things to photograph! While I am based in Austin, whenever I travel, I love to capture families and weddings while I’m there. It lets me photograph in new areas, and experience new stories.

Shooting Documentary-Style for a Maine In-Home Family Session

For the Delamaters’ session, I followed the family for four hours as they went through their usual routine at their home in Maine. The day began with play time and making the bed, which prompted so many smiles and giggles! Eventually, the kiddos had storytime, bath time, and went down for a nap. Then, it was down to the river for an afternoon swim.

I think this shoot is a prime example of how easy it can be to take beautiful family photos, even with multiple little ones. The Delamaters didn’t have to do or go anywhere out of the ordinary because the essence of who they are as a family was right there in their daily routine. Plus, their home is absolutely gorgeous and a reflection of their unique style!
