Someone who makes you feel comfortable

When photographing a family, I want my clients and their kiddos to feel relaxed so we can capture the best possible images. I’m happy to arrive early to your session so your kiddos can warm up to me. I’m also flexible to schedule our shoot at the most optimal time of day for them. Whether that’s early morning, post-nap, or afternoon snack time, I’m there!

I also want all my clients to know they have a voice in how the session unfolds! I love it when my clients give me feedback beforehand detailing moments they hope to capture. Whether it’s a silly dance you do to your kids’ favorite song or a yard game you like to play, these tidbits are helpful as I guide our session.

 

Someone who has experience with families and young children

As a seasoned family photographer and mama of a toddler boy, I understand what parents want from their sessions. I also know when to give the kiddos a break and when to take advantage of those special moments to capture the essence of your family. 

Capturing our little ones’ milestones is so important! I photograph my son yearly at a natural light studio to commemorate his milestones with his favorite outfits and toys. This session is his favorite because it’s focused on him and the things he loves most! It’s so easy to forget about that toy truck they loved once upon a time, but these sessions are like little time capsules.

I encourage my clients to bring all their kiddos’ favorite things into the studio! We’ll play their favorite music and make it a full showcase of them and their personality.

Someone who can capture candid moments

As a documentary photographer, my work is highly candid. I don’t pose my clients or ask them to say “cheese”! Instead, I want you and your family to interact and play as you normally would. For me, it’s a delicate balance of getting to know my clients personally and giving them just enough prompting to do their thing. Ultimately, I want to step back and let them be themselves as if I weren’t there! 

The truth is that posed photos, while cute, don’t tell the full story of who your family is right now. You won’t look back on the perfectly posed portraits in twenty years. Instead, you’ll flip to the candid images that take you right back to what it was like in that season. I aim to document the authenticity of your family and leave you with heirlooms to cherish as your kiddos continue to grow.

I love having a mix of family photos, from the studio portraits of my son to at-home sessions and outdoor shoots at our favorite parks. Posing in different environments creates an eclectic look for our walls and photo books. It also gives us the chance to commemorate different facets of our lives. We’re multi-dimensional, and it’s important to celebrate that!
