As we step into 2025 (and a whole new year of weddings!), you might be wondering what fresh ideas are on the horizon. As an experienced Austin wedding photographer who draws inspiration from nostalgia and believes in creating photographs that stand the test of time, I’m excited to share a few trends I’ve been seeing and loving. Of course, trends aren’t everything, but sometimes they introduce us to something new! So, I wanted to share what my couples are up to in 2025 and beyond.
One I’m noticing the most is a focus on spontaneous, tender, emotional imagery beyond all else. Couples want me to capture their authentic moments, and they’re not as concerned about the arranged ones. It’s less about a million posed shots and more about capturing the real emotional experience of the day.
When it comes to my clients, the most important thing is staying present for them. For me, that means being present with you—listening, watching, and organically documenting each moment. I’m not here to orchestrate your wedding; I’m here to preserve it truthfully. You focus on enjoying your day, and I’ll be there to quietly capture the magic.
Another trend that fills my heart with joy is the renewed love for film photography. The slower pace of film makes every frame more intentional—it encourages you (and me) to pause and savor the moment. While digital photography lets us shoot freely, film is all about being purposeful.
Both types of photography have a place, and I love both. But film requires you to be more thoughtful about each and every frame as there are only so many you can shoot on a roll, and each roll costs money for processing and scanning.
Film is included in all of my wedding collections. How much I shoot depends on the logistics of the day. Since it is a slower process, there needs to be more time allotted for it. This is especially true if you want film portraits! If you’re intrigued by the timeless look of film and don’t mind building in a little extra space in your schedule, I promise it’s a beautiful addition to your gallery.
My couples LOVE nostalgia—those subtle, intimate details that make your photos feel like keepsakes from a treasured family album. These are the same couples who love those singular and spontaneous moments over anything posed.
Part of why my clients pick me is because they want those special images that inspire that level of nostalgia. They want those perfect emotional shots that they can hang on their walls forever and use to relive the day. They’re able to look over their photos and feel the day all over again. This is a trend that I really hope sticks around because nostalgia never goes out of style!
At the end of the day, your wedding should reflect who you are and what you love. One of my favorite overall 2025 wedding trends is going out to a party with your guests after the wedding!
My recent clients ended their party at 11 PM with a second line that took them straight to the bar down the street (the coolest White Horse Saloon in East Austin). Their coordinator bought tickets for 100 people ahead of time to ensure all could get covered. It was just the perfect, most chill wrap-up to the perfect party.
I truly believe that you should only add in trends only if they speak to you. The great thing about these 2025 trends is that they are things people already love, and being trendy is giving them the agency to say HELL YES to things that aren’t typical for weddings. Like going to a bar directly afterward!
If you’re ready to plan a day that’s warm, nostalgic, and true to who you are, I’d love to connect. Let’s talk about what lights you up and how we can capture it beautifully. Because, in the end, these images are part of your family history—something you’ll revisit for decades to come. Let’s make them count.
