Austin Wedding at UMLAUF Sculpture Garden

DeeDee and Josh planned their wedding at UMLAUF Sculpture Garden to occur ten years after they became an official duo! Even before that, they knew each other and dated in high school. They rekindled their romance in their early twenties, and their journey of love and commitment over the years is beautiful.

The couple met in Austin but have trotted all over the world together. They spent time living in Maine but recently returned home to Austin. Accordingly, they wanted a quintessentially Austin wedding, from the vendors to the lush, park-like atmosphere of UMLAUF Sculpture Garden! It was a memorable day, to say the least, with incredible catering from Austin’s original El Alma, floral design by LOAM STUDIO, and planning by 3 of Cups. Documenting it all was an honor!

Getting Ready at Carpenter Hotel

DeeDee and Josh chose to get ready for the day at the nearby Carpenter Hotel, a quirky boutique hotel nestled among the oak trees of Zilker Park. Not only was it a comfortable place to begin the day, but it was an incredible location for photos! After the couple dressed in their wedding attire, they met on the hotel’s gorgeous brick-walled patio. I followed them as they strolled around the grounds, snapping candid portraits and the occasional film photo.

All day long, DeeDee and Josh looked effortlessly cool together. I especially loved DeeDee’s look! She wore an empire-waist gown accessorized with pearl drop earrings for the ceremony and carried a garden-inspired bouquet of white and ivory flowers. Later, she changed into a glittery mini dress perfect for tearing up the dance floor! Meanwhile, her hair looked retro-cool, styled into a simple twisted updo with curtain bangs.

Outdoor Wedding at UMLAUF Sculpture Garden

After wrapping up our portrait session at Carpenter Hotel, I followed DeeDee and Josh to their ceremony and reception venue, UMLAUF Sculpture Garden. This lowkey garden venue suited the couple’s laidback energy perfectly. Their family and friends awaited them as they walked the aisle together, hand in hand. They exchanged handwritten vows in the shade of the trees. Then, their officiant pronounced them husband and wife, met with cheers of joy from their loved ones!

DeeDee and Josh’s reception followed beneath a clear-top tent that allowed the splendor of the sculpture garden to peek through. The couple and their guests dined on authentic Mexican cuisine catered by El Alma and toasted the occasion with champagne. Then, the celebration evolved into an outdoor dance party as the sun went down and the lights began to glow! It was an incredible, joy-filled night that concluded with a streamer send-off for DeeDee and Josh as they headed off to start their married life.

I had the best day capturing DeeDee and Josh’s wedding at Carpenter Hotel and UMLAUF Sculpture Garden! These two are the coolest, and I’m so glad I could get to know them.
