Candid Engagement Session at South Congress Hotel

I had so much fun shooting Carsen and Cole’s engagement session at South Congress Hotel! From the stylish courtyard of the hotel to the streets of downtown Austin, these two never stopped looking deeply in love. And, they even brought along a special guest—with paws and fur!

Engagement Session at South Congress Hotel

Carsen and Cole met in Austin, so they knew that they wanted to have their engagement shoot here. However, they’ve not yet decided where their wedding will be.  I loved that they went ahead with their engagement shoot anyway! Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT have to have everything figured out before hiring your photographer. I’m always down to be along for the ride with my couples. Carsen and Cole decided to go for it and get their session out of the way, and we had such a blast documenting this exciting time in their lives.

These two have style for days, so I knew they’d fit right in at the South Congress Hotel for a portion of their shoot! South Congress is a boutique hotel downtown where I’ve shot dozens of weddings. Its midcentury modern-inspired decor is ideal for an eclectic set of portraits. So, I always recommend it to my artsier couples who really want their gallery to feel like “Austin”!

Including Pets in Your Session

I loved that Carsen and Cole brought their sweet golden retriever along for the second half of their shoot! When my couples want to know if they can bring their furry friends along for their portrait session, my answer is always HECK. YES. While pets can pose an extra challenge, it’s nothing an experienced photographer can’t handle. Plus, their antics make for even better candid moments, which you know I’m all about. Your pets are members of your family, so they’re always welcome to tag along!
