As a wedding photographer, it’s always wonderful to meet with a couple whose vision aligns with my style! Kenley and Ben reached out to me looking for a full morning of coverage for their elopement. Their day would be for just the two of them, without any guests, so they planned it out as an idyllic glimpse into their everyday life together. They began their courthouse elopement in Austin at a charming Airbnb, and their morning was infused with so much heart and personality from start to finish.
There were so many details that really spoke to my soul with this elopement. They chose the coolest little Airbnb situated near Hippie Hollow on Lake Travis, which had such a great retro vibe that really jived so well with them. And it made a stunning backdrop for their getting-ready and portrait photos!
I love that Kenley chose to thrift her entire outfit, too. (Thrifting is one of my love languages, so I literally squealed with joy!) Her shoes were only $3 and though she had them resoled, she chose to keep the price in marker on them – such a cute detail! Even her bouquet was handmade by her mom, making it all the more special. Everything they did for their day was intentional and delightful, which made capturing it all the more fun.
The day started with the pair making breakfast together, having coffee, and slowly starting to get ready together before heading to the courthouse. The Travis County Courthouse is one of the prettiest buildings in Austin! Built in the 1930s, the courthouse’s Art Deco architecture was a stunning nod to their love of vintage design.
They had already read their vows to each other the night before their courthouse elopement, snuggled up together on the couch in the Airbnb. So, on their wedding day, they exchanged rings and kept the official ceremony sweet and simple. They both left the ceremony with joyful tears and sped off in their car labeled “Just Married!” to continue celebrating at The Line Hotel.
When it came to their elopement photography, they wanted a documentary feel with a little editorial flair sprinkled in (my favorite combo!). They wanted their images to tell a genuine story of the day, capturing authentic moments and thoughtful details without intrusion.
This resonates perfectly with my philosophy: I believe in stepping back and allowing your day to unfold naturally, preserving the little in-between moments that often mean the most.
It was such an honor documenting Kenley and Ben’s courthouse elopement in Austin. If you’re drawn to a similarly candid, heartfelt style, one that captures not just the big events but the quiet and tender moments in between, I’d love to connect. Let me know what you’re thinking about for your ideal day, and we can make it happen!
