This Maine in-home family session was full of so many sweet and candid moments. I loved capturing the Delamaters in their space as they went about their day. In fact, documentary sessions with families are one of my favorite things to photograph! While I am based in Austin, whenever I travel, I love to capture families and weddings while I’m there. It lets me photograph in new areas, and experience new stories.
For the Delamaters’ session, I followed the family for four hours as they went through their usual routine at their home in Maine. The day began with play time and making the bed, which prompted so many smiles and giggles! Eventually, the kiddos had storytime, bath time, and went down for a nap. Then, it was down to the river for an afternoon swim.
I think this shoot is a prime example of how easy it can be to take beautiful family photos, even with multiple little ones. The Delamaters didn’t have to do or go anywhere out of the ordinary because the essence of who they are as a family was right there in their daily routine. Plus, their home is absolutely gorgeous and a reflection of their unique style!
As a photographer, I think it’s so important to capture my clients as they truly are together. This means capturing all of their emotions, not just the perfect smiles! In my opinion, beauty can be found in all of the crevices of day-to-day life, because that’s where reality and the heart of relationships live. Wholehearted, soulful storytelling is my passion, and I love to shift that focus from weddings to families and everywhere in between.
I offer documentary sessions for a range of time-slots, both short and long, here in Austin. It just depends upon the story that you and your family are hoping to capture! Reach out and we can customize something that fully represents who you all are in this season of your lives. There’s never a better time than the present.
