When Miranda and Max reached out to book photography for their spring wedding at Mattie’s Austin, their vision was already crystal-clear. They wanted the ethos of their day to be organic and local all the way through, from the flowers to the food on the table and the images captured. Everything had to flow naturally!
Friends and family flew in from all over the world and were also a priority. The couple wanted to immerse themselves in every moment with their loved ones and didn’t want to pose for the camera except for a few family portraits. This desire aligned perfectly with my preferred approach to capturing weddings! I was in my element all day, and I feel incredibly honored that Miranda and Max chose me to photograph these precious memories. Stick around to see all of the highlights!
The day began with a first look at Miranda and Max in their wedding attire. Miranda was a stunning modern bride in a sheath gown and delicate choker cape! She carried a minimalist bouquet from PERSEPHONE with locally grown foxglove and Queen Anne’s lace to complete her look. She and Max shared a sweet moment admiring each other in their outfits. Then, I joined them on a walk around the grounds.
On our walk, I avoided taking many posed portraits, instead allowing the images to happen naturally as Miranda and Max expressed their love and excitement for the day. Doing this gave them the organic, candid feel the couple loves! I also shot several rolls of film during our portrait session and later during the toasts. Miranda and Max added this service to their collection, and I’m so glad they did! I love shooting with film (it takes me back to my art school days!), and it’s been so exciting to jump back into it as the art form regains popularity.
Almost all of Miranda and Max’s wedding day occurred outside, on the beautiful grounds of Mattie’s Austin. The massive, gnarled oak trees covered in twinkling lights gave the venue a magical feel, amplified by the bright spring day. The couple exchanged their vows in the shade of the trees, surrounded by their loved ones from near and far. Then, everyone moved to the shelter of a clear-top tent to enjoy a menu of Mattie’s exceptional farm-to-table cuisine. The celebration only moved indoors once it was dark for a dance party curated by Dart Collective!
Photographing Miranda and Max’s wedding at Mattie’s Austin was a joy. We were a perfect fit, and I’m humbled they chose me to document everything! If you want film photography added to your Austin wedding coverage, don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to capture the essence of your day using this gorgeous, nostalgic medium!
“Amber is nothing short of an exceptional photographer (and human, for that matter)! From our first inquiry to when we received our wedding album, Amber was simply a joy to work with. The photo quality was stunning and took our breath away, but equally, Amber made us feel so at ease during our wedding day and fit seamlessly into our day. We are so thankful and cannot recommend Amber highly enough!”
