Sarah and Eric hosted an intimate wedding with an upscale-meets-laidback vibe at the luxurious Commodore Perry Estate in Austin! This venue is any wedding photographer’s dream, with mesmerizing Tuscan-style architecture. It was always a bucket list shooting location for me, and I’m so glad I finally got to cross it off the list!
Sarah and Eric planned to hold their ceremony outdoors in the Commodore’s fountain garden, followed by outdoor portraits. Unfortunately, a late fall storm swept through, and the day was cold and rainy. A wedding photographer needs to prepare for every possible outcome, so a bit of rain didn’t scare me! It shouldn’t scare you, either—especially if you’ve booked a great venue like the Commodore Perry Estate.
When there were breaks in the rain, we managed to snag a few portraits outside. However, we snapped the rest inside the estate, where the European-inspired decor gave them such an elegant feel! Sarah and Eric were troopers through all of it, and I could tell the disappointing weather didn’t bother them one bit. They ended up moving their ceremony indoors to the reception space, and the candlelit setting couldn’t have been more perfect for their intimate exchange of vows!
From start to finish, I was in love with this wedding day’s warm and welcoming ambiance. Elsie Event Co. designed the coziest reception space inside the Commodore Perry Estate, with rows upon rows of candles that burned throughout the evening. Meanwhile, Sarah and Eric’s guests stood up and gave impromptu toasts while enjoying cocktails and mugs of hot coffee.
The couple also served the most amazing desserts, including a cake from HEB, a local Texas grocery store! The simple decoration, reading “Til death do us part,” threw in just the right amount of edgy, laidback ease to the details from the day. And who could forget a midnight snack? To close out the evening, Sarah and Eric served french fries to curb their guests’ cravings before making a spectacular exit with ribbons of confetti.
It was such a privilege to shoot this wedding at the Commodore Perry Estate. Engaged Austin couples, now’s the time to book photography for your 2023 wedding! I would love to connect with you to see if we’re a perfect match. Share your heart for your special day, and I’ll be in touch!
