Hannah and Max met while studying for their master’s degrees at Rice University. Both grew up in Europe, so they bonded over that and the experience of coming to the United States for their collegiate studies. The couple’s European background also influenced their wedding planning journey! They chose The Inn at Jennifer’s Gardens, an intimate Austin wedding venue inspired by a Spanish villa, as the backdrop for their celebration.
Being their wedding photographer was such a rewarding experience! Hannah has a fondness for film photography, so she wanted me to focus on that. She also wanted the day to unfold naturally, creating space for in-between moments and unrushed bridal portraits. I shot using digital, 35mm, and a Polaroid camera all day to create an eclectic gallery full of emotion, color, and movement. It was the kind of creative challenge I love, and I couldn’t be happier with how these images turned out!
Hannah and Max chose The Inn at Jennifer’s Gardens for its European garden feel. They also loved its location in the heart of Austin—it truly feels like a Mediterranean oasis amidst the city’s hustle and bustle. This venue is beautiful any time of year, but I have a particular affection for it in the springtime, when this wedding took place. The flowers are blooming, creating pops of color everywhere you look, and the weather is just right for an outdoor dinner.
Hannah and Max’s entire day took place outside. They chose to have a first look and exchange private vows beside the bubbling creek. I’m so glad they took that moment alone to decompress and reconnect! Their ceremony took place inside the garden’s iron gazebo, where the stunning architecture and twinkling string lights create a romantic atmosphere. After cocktails on the patio, the celebration concluded with an al fresco meal, cooked over an open fire by Gold Epicure. Everyone gathered around a family-style table for dinner and took turns toasting to the happy couple!
Hannah is a personal friend of Katelyn of Katalina Floral Co., who provided the incredible florals for this wedding day. She created a rainbow of monochrome bouquets for every lady at the wedding, and paired each with a hand-painted card. It was one of the most unique floral features I’ve ever seen at a wedding! The colors were so vibrant and fun to photograph. The Polaroid of Hannah with a rainbow of bouquets surrounding her head might be my favorite shot from the entire day.
I’m so grateful that Hannah and Max trusted me to document their wedding day at The Inn at Jennifer’s Gardens! The thing I loved most about this day was its authenticity to Hannah’s vision. She had a clear idea of how she wanted her wedding day to feel, and was able to turn it into reality with the help of her loved ones. Are you looking for a film photographer for your Austin wedding?
