As an Austin wedding photographer, I often get a lot of questions about the best way to find your wedding photographer and about my own work. Finding your perfect Austin wedding photographer isn’t a decision to take lightly. You want this vendor to fit your unique vision and personality! They’ll spend almost your entire wedding day at your side, so you ultimately want them to jive with you, your partner, and your people. So, today, I’m sharing what it’s like to work with me so you can get a sense of how the process of finding your own might go and whether or not we’d be a good match!
At Amber Vickery Photography, my style is organic, artful, candid, and very relaxed. So, I usually attract introverted clients interested in art, drawn to authentic images, and unconcerned with following trends. They want an intimate wedding day that feels true to them. They also want to prioritize their guests’ experiences and want me to capture their faces as much (if not more) than their own.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more comforting presence at our wedding, which was so helpful considering my husband and I are both introverted at heart. We’re totally over the moon by how our gallery turned out! Amber gave us so many photos of friends and family we’ll cherish forever.” Michelle S.
In addition, my clients prioritize nostalgia. They consider their images family heirlooms more than social media status symbols. Think about yourself fifty years from now. Which images do you think you’ll feel drawn to then? Trendy Instagram photos or an honest image of your father that didn’t involve a cheesy staged moment? If you think we’d be a good fit for your Austin wedding, stick around to learn more about my packages and artistic process.
Every wedding is different, so each AVP wedding receives a customized package. I offer a baseline of collections for clients to reference but invite them to make their experience their own with a menu of á la carte options. The baseline collection includes eight hours of coverage, which I believe is necessary to tell the full story of a wedding day.
My collections also incorporate five to ten rolls of film, a second shooter, online gallery access, and artfully edited, high-resolution images available for instant download. Clients have the option to add:
Yep! I always work with the same experienced photographers who also own businesses and are highly skilled in their craft. I trust them completely.
“As two camera-shy individuals, we weren’t sure what it would be like to have engagement photos taken, but Amber instantly put us at ease, carrying on a conversation while directing us and shooting all at the same time. We knew then that we’d chosen the best wedding photographer for us.” Lee G.
Sure! I just request that you hire a videographer with a similarly relaxed and candid approach. I would hate for you to desire candid and laidback photography but end up with a videographer who wants to pose you and make you “act” for the camera instead of experiencing your day to the fullest. I’m happy to recommend some videographers I love working with!
As an experienced Austin wedding photographer, the answer is most likely yes. However, there are always new venues popping up in Austin and the surrounding areas! If I haven’t shot at a venue before, I plan to arrive extra early to get the lay of the land.
I only have a shot list for family photos (which I’ll request from you in the pre-wedding questionnaire one month before your wedding). I prioritize doing my homework before your wedding so I can be fully present instead of having my face buried in a list. While I instinctively know what’s happening next on a wedding day, I always keep my eyes peeled for the surprises and little unplanned moments that make the best images. That’s where the magic happens, and it requires me to tune in completely to the ebb and flow of your day!
“One of our favorite photos from our elopement was Amber’s idea! She knew how much our date night tradition of eating at our favorite restaurant and bar meant to us. We went inside for a cocktail, and she stood outside, capturing the moment through the windows.” Becca P.
You’ll receive your online gallery from me eight to ten weeks after your event. From there, you can download high-resolution images directly! You can also order prints, albums, cards, frames, and more. The gallery will remain live for one year, so you’ll have plenty of time to download your photos. Beyond that, I suggest backing up your images in multiple locations for long-term safekeeping.
While finding your perfect Austin wedding photographer isn’t a snap decision, you can feel confident about your choice by asking the right questions and looking at samples of their work. If you resonate with what I’ve shared about my clientele and style, I would love to hear from you! Just fill out an inquiry form, and I’ll be in touch to discover if we’re a good fit for your Austin wedding. Oh, and be sure to share a bit about your love story and vision for your special day—my favorite!
